GenoPalate’s personalized nutrition technology helps people eat healthy based on their unique biological needs for nutrition.

To truly eat healthy and apply daily food behavior to preventing chronic metabolic diseases, one must personalize his or her nutrition. Genomics is key to our understanding of anyone’s food personalization for health.

GenoPalate, Inc., a Milwaukee-based early-stage nutritional genomics company, has completed a $4 million round of equity financing from local investors. This is the third round of funding for the company. The funds will be used to expand the capacity of GenoPalate’s internet platform so the company can engage 3,000 or more new customers a day for their personal nutrition needs, which will more than double its current capacity.

Founded in 2016 by Yi Sherry Zhang, a Ph.D. geneticist and former professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin, GenoPalate has grown steadily to become a leading provider of nutrigenomics testing and analytical services for health-conscious consumers seeking to make healthy dietary choices. Using proprietary algorithms GenoPalate interprets the customer’s DNA to help determine a personalized nutrition profile that shows them which foods are good and bad for their health.

“We empower people with their genetic information and other personalized nutrition data insights to walk into a store or shop food online and know which foods are healthier for them,” said Sherry Zhang, Ph.D., Founder and Chief Executive Officer.

In addition to internet platform development, the funds will be used to expand digital marketing and to continue the development of unique research databases for addressing personalized nutrition, health and wellness, and chronic metabolic diseases such as type-2 diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.

“To truly eat healthy and apply daily food behavior to preventing chronic metabolic diseases, one must personalize his or her nutrition. Genomics is key to our understanding of anyone’s food personalization for health,” said Sherry Zhang.
